Bulldogs Split at Taft Triangular

TAFT, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team picked up one win and suffered one loss on the road at the Taft Triangular on Friday afternoon. The split moved AHC to an overall record of 3-5 on the season.

The Bulldogs opened the day with a four-set victory over Ohlone College (21-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-19). Emma Olney dominated at the net with 20 kills and 14 digs for a double-double. Setter Shanyce Valadez fueled the attack with 38 assists and 23 digs, while Tiara Downing added eight kills and three blocks. Bailey Ware chipped in 10 kills, and the back row was anchored by Jordyn Thomas (22 digs) and Morgan Doss (24 digs). Hancock finished with 117 digs and six total blocks to secure the victory.

Hancock fell short in the second half of action when a three-set loss to the hosting Cougars (13-25, 12-25, 24-26). Olney again led the offense with 14 kills on .263 hitting. Ware and Downing combined for seven kills and four total blocks, while Valadez added 18 assists and 10 digs. Defensively, Thomas (13 digs) and Doss (12 digs) steadied the backcourt against Taft's attack.

The Bulldogs are set to host Cerro Coso College on Wednesday, September 3rd, for the home opener. Action is scheduled to begin at 6 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
