Hancock Falls in Five Set Battle with AVC
SANTA MARIA, Calif. — The Allan Hancock College women's volleyball pushed Antelope Valley College to the brink before ultimately falling in a five-set thriller, 3–2 (25–19, 25–18, 23–25, 25–27, 15–8), on Wednesday night at the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. | BOX SCORE
The visiting Mauraders (9-1) used a balanced attack on the outside to secure the first two sets. Hancock (7-7) clawed back with gritty defense and clutch serving, forcing a deciding set. Shanyce Valadez lifted the Bulldogs with a late ace in the third set, bringing the game to a 23-23 tie, and dished out another on set point to force extra frames. She also notched an ace on set point in the fourth before the Marauders regrouped in the fifth, pulling away late for a 15–8 clincher.

- Emma Olney: Team-high 25 kills (.273), 9 digs, and 3 blocks
- Bailey Ware: 11 kills, .276 hitting, 2 blocks
- Shanyce Valadez: 28 assists, 6 service aces, and 14 digs
- Morgan Doss: 15 digs and 9 assists as the team's defensive anchor
- Michelle Rodriquez: 14 digs, 4 assists, and 2 aces
As a team, AHC tallied 47 kills on .128 hitting, with 48 assists and 11 aces. The Bulldogs out-dug the Marauders (71–68), but Antelope Valley's serving (13 aces) and late-set efficiency carried the difference.
The program is set to resume action on Wednesday, October 1st, at home against LA Mission College for the Western State Conference (North) opener.
