Leron Fisher Signs with Division I Longwood University
Allan Hancock College point guard Leron Fisher signed a national letter of intent on Thursday to play Division I basketball. Fisher will play at Longwood University, a member of the Big South Conference located in Virginia.
Fisher passed up an opportunity to play Division II ball right of high school to come to Hancock and play for head coach Ralph Gorton. His decision paid off with a Division I scholarship.
The 5-11 guard averaged 13.7 points and 4.3 assists per game for the 20-10 Bulldogs. The Longwood Lancers are coming off an 8-25 season that included a 4-12 run through the BSC.
Fisher says Longwood is just a four hour drive from his hometown in Maryland so his mother can go watch him play D-I ball. He also plans to major in business.
