Hancock Water Polo Looks to Score First Conference Win Wednesday at Citrus
The women's water polo team heads to Citrus College for a Western State Conference game at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7. Hancock will trying to secure its first conference victory of the season.
Hancock hosted Cuesta last week in the program's first home game. The Bulldogs outscored Cuesta 9-6 in the second half, but fell 17-11. Freshman Rebecca Gonzalez (Nipomo HS) led the way with four goals, while Bianca McNeil (Santa Maria HS) added three more. Nikki Gurgiolo (Righetti HS) scored twice in the loss.
Four games into the season, Gonzalez leads the team with 10 goals. Gurgiolo has six, while McNeil and sophomore Ashley Lindsey (Santa Maria HS) have five apiece.
Citrus is 2-1 in conference play and 11-4 overall. Last Wednesday, Citrus beat Ventura 9-8 behind four goals from Danielle DeHerrera. Goalie Nicole Parson had 13 blocks in the cage. Citrus went 2-2 during the 18th annual San Diego Mesa Tournament over the weekend.
