Hancock Water Polo Falls at Ventura
Sophomore Ashley Lindsey scored a season-high three goals, but the Allan Hancock College women's water polo team lost 14-4 at Ventura College on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs dropped to 1-3 overall in its inaugural season and 0-2 in Western State Conference play. The host Pirates improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in conference.
Lindsey, a Santa Maria High School graduate, scored three times on four shots. Bianca McNeil, a freshman, scored the other Hancock goal.
The Pirates sprinted out of the games and scored the first seven goals of the game. They led 4-0 after the first quarter and 10-2 at halftime.
Nikki Gurgiolo, a Righetti High School graduate, led the Bulldogs with three steals, while Rebecca Gonzalez added two.
Paige Treloar-Ballard led Ventura with four goals.
Hancock returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when the Bulldogs will play the first home game in program history. They host Cuesta at 3 p.m. at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center.
