Bulldogs Post Multiple Event Wins at Pirate Invitational
VENTURA, Calif - The Allan Hancock College women's track and field team led the way at the Pirate Invitational, posting multiple event victories and podium finishes, while the men's squad added strong performances across sprints, throws, and jumps.
The women's team was highlighted by a standout performance from Eva Luu, who captured first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:26.39, meeting the State A qualifying standard and ranking fourth all-time in Allan Hancock College history. Luu also earned third place in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:28.40.
The Bulldogs were dominant in the relays, as Ashley Corona, Maria Navarro, Eva Luu, and Kiara Pooler won the 4×400 relay in 4:26.01, while Zairah Ramirez, Kiara Pooler, Ashley Corona, and Maria Navarro placed second in the 4×100 relay with a time of 53.46.
In the throwing events, Abigail Aponte delivered a strong double performance, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 37.85 meters and adding a second-place finish in the shot put at 10.29 meters.
On the men's side, Mychael Walker earned a victory in the triple jump, posting a winning mark of 13.68 meters. Jaden Styles followed with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 58.79, while Esequiel Gauna contributed a pair of podium finishes by placing second in the shot put (13.10m) and second in the javelin (42.54m).
The Bulldogs return to action this Friday at Cuesta.
