Women's Soccer Hands Pierce First WSC Loss in 2-0 Victory
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team spoiled an undefeated Western State Conference (North) record for LA Pierce College after securing a 2-0 shutout victory at home on Friday afternoon. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs (4-5-8, 3-2-3) got on the board in the opening half when Symphony Lozano converted a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, giving Hancock a 1-0 advantage before the intermission. Lozano's goal marked her second of the season and set the tone for AHC's assertive play, which saw the Bulldogs go on to outshoot Pierce 9-6 and control much of the possession.
In the second frame, the home squad continued to dictate the pace while keeping the Brahmas (7-4-4, 4-1-3) off the scoreboard. Janeth Davalos netted a shot in the 87th minute to seal the victory off a feed from Raquel Schmid, which doubled the advantage for AHC and put the game out of reach for the visiting crew.
Alexia Medina turned in a clean sheet after 90 minutes of action in the box for the Bulldogs with four saves to her final line. Lozano, Davalos, and Gabriella Pulido paced the offense, combining for six of Hancock's nine attempts.
Conference action is set to continue on Tuesday, October 24th, as the program is set to host Oxnard College at 4 PM.
