Santa Maria, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team earned a hard-fought draw against Cuesta College on Friday afternoon in a 1-1 Western State Conference (North) decision. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs (3-4-8, 2-1-3) struck early when Janeth Davalos found the net in the fourth minute off a setup from Symphony Lozano. The visitng Cougars (2-8-1, 1-4-1) evened the score in the 30th minute, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie ahead of the halftime break.
Hancock dictated much of the play in the second half, outshooting Cuesta 9–1 and creating multiple opportunities to break the tie, but could not net the winner before time expired. The home squad struggled to find quality opportunities in the match with Raquel Schmidt, Natalya Ando-Pineda, and Brianna Torrez adding to the team's final total of just four shots landing on-goal.
Goalkeeper Sam Patchin anchored the defense with a save and several key clearances, while the back line limited Cuesta to just two shots on target all match. Hancock finished with a 10–4 advantage in total shots and a 3–1 edge in corner kicks.
The Bulldogs are set to return to action with a road trip at Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday, October 21st, at 7 PM.
