NEXT LEVEL: Zan McGoverns Signs with Lindenwood
SAINT CHARLES, Mo. - Allan Hancock College women's golfer, Zan McGovern, has signed with Lindenwood University to continue her academic and athletic career next season.
"Lindenwood will allow me to follow my dreams of becoming a nurse while giving me a Division I golf opportunity, unlike many of the schools in California that generally shy away from science majors," McGovern stated.
McGovern wrapped up her lone season with the Bulldogs last fall as a standout performer for the program. The New Mexico native became just the fourth member in program history to earn All-Conference honors while leading the team to the highest finish in program history at the Western State Conference Championship. She finished the season tied for 13th at the 3C2A State Championship after rain in the area cancelled round two of the big event.
"My time at Allan Hancock cultivated a certain confidence that I am able to start here and go anywhere as long as I believe that I can. Coach Senior was a huge part of this. He fixed the hardest thing to fix in an athlete, a broken spirit," McGovern added. "I couldn't have done it if I hadn't chosen AHC."
The Lions are a Division I member of the NCAA and compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
