Women's Golf Takes Second at WSC Championship, Advances to SoCal Regional
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's golf team made history with a second place finish at the Western State Conference Championship on Monday, marking the highest finish (on record) in program history. The two-day event took place on Sunday at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course before coming to an end with the second round being held at the Santa Maria Country Club.
The Bulldogs finished one stroke shy of the top spot after carding a four-player score of 719 (351/368) after two rounds, while College of the Canyons won the event with a final tally of 718 (340/378). Notably, Hancock was the top finisher after Monday's action with a score of 368 versus the Cougars' 378 stroke performance.
Freshman Zan McGovern finished second in the individual standings with a score of 159 (77/82) while also earning All-Conference honors. Three other members for the AHC squad finished in the top-15: Kaitlin Acosta (9th), Ally Price (11th), and Brooke Montano (T-12th).
The Bulldogs will advance to the two-day 3C2A Southern California Regional Championships beginning Sunday, Nov. 9, at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura. This is also the first time (on record) that a full AHC team will represent the women's program in the postseason.
