Bulldogs Split Games at AHC Crossover Tournament
SANTA MARIA, Calif. — The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team earned a split at the AHC Crossover Tournament, opening with a 62–54 win over Foothill on Friday night before falling 79–59 to Lemoore on Saturday afternoon.
vs. Foothill – W, 62–54
Allan Hancock set the tone early against Foothill, building a 35–21 halftime lead and controlling the game defensively en route to the eight-point victory. The Bulldogs held Foothill to just six points in the opening quarter and won the rebounding battle 50–36.
Iraya Bell-Jackson led the way with 12 points, while Bree Luna added 12 off the bench on four made field goals, including three from beyond the arc. Grace Baird contributed nine points and seven rebounds, and Moncerat Campos anchored the paint with a double-double effort of 12 rebounds.
Hancock finished with 33 bench points and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 12 points off offensive rebounds to secure the win. BOX SCORE
vs. Lemoore – L, 79–59
In Saturday's matchup, Lemoore used an efficient offensive performance and strong interior play to pull away from the Bulldogs. The visitors shot 48.4 percent from the field and scored 44 points in the paint, building a double-digit lead that held through the final quarter.
Bell-Jackson again paced Hancock with 16 points, while Luna added 12 and Chavez chipped in seven points and four assists. Hancock showed resilience with a 22-point third quarter but was unable to slow Lemoore's balanced attack, which featured five players scoring in double figures.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs forced 31 turnovers over the two-day tournament stretch. BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs return to action this weekend, at the Glendale Holiday Crossover, Friday vs Glendale College, and Saturday vs Rio Hondo.
