Women's Basketball Falls in Season Opener at Hartnell
SALINAS, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team battled through a tough shooting night on the road, falling 96–42 to Hartnell in a non-conference matchup on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs closed strong with their best offensive quarter (15 points) and saw several newcomers notch first-game contributions. | BOX SCORE
The hosting Panthers used early pressure to build a 55–14 halftime lead, capitalizing on turnovers and transition chances. Hancock steadied after the break, scoring 13 in the third and 15 in the fourth behind improved ball movement and outside shooting. The Bulldogs finished 5-for-13 from three (38.5%) and held their own on the glass after halftime.
Hancock Highlights
- Iraya Bell-Jackson paced Hancock with 17 points, hitting four triples on 6-of-9 shooting overall.
- Sophonnie Felix added five points, two blocks, and a steal, providing rim protection and energy.
- Anastasia Drolette anchored the interior with six rebounds and three assists while going 3-of-4 at the line.
- Moncerat Campos grabbed five boards and dished two assists; Aileen Hernandez Zavala chipped in five points off the bench.
