Calderon's 21 Points Lead Bulldogs To 52-42 Win Over Imperial Valley
Celina Calderon scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team to a 52-42 win over Imperial Valley on Friday during day two of the San Diego Mesa Tournament.
The Bulldogs improved to 1-2 on the season and play the winner of Friday's Hartnell/L.A. Southwest game in the consolation championship on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs led 27-12 at halftime and held on for the victory. Hancock shot 47 percent from the floord (21-45) and made 7 of its 18 three-point shots (39%).
Calderon, a sophomore and Lompoc High School graduate, was 3 for 4 from downtown and 9 for 16 overall. Her previous career-high was 15 points. Calderon added four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Ali Rodriguez and Tashara Pruett added nine points apiece. Pruett, a Lompoc High School graduate, led the team with five rebounds. Rodriguez dished out five assists.
Nicole De La Guerra added eight points and three steals, while Templeton High School graduate Marissa Torres added seven points and three steals.
Hancock combined to record 12 steals in the victory.
