SOFTBALL SHUT OUT IN HOME FINALE
SANTA MARIA-- In a rare Sunday afternoon game, the Allan Hancock College softball team fell to Riverside, 10-0. The late season non-conference match was the Bulldogs' last home game of the year.
Hancock (9-30, 3-10 WSC North) fell behind early and could never get on track against Riverside pitcher, Alexandra Ariaz. Bulldog starter Angela Martinez allowed four hits in the first and allowed two runs before being bailed out by a double play started by third baseman, Veronica Gonzalez.
The Bulldogs had two on in the second inning after a hit by Gonzalez, who was forced out at second on a grounder by catcher Christy Blea. That was followed by a single by Stacey Davis. Ariaz struck out the next two batters to end the threat. Davis ended the day with two of the five AHC hits.
Hancock finishes the season with two single road games, Tuesday, Apr. 19 at Ventura and Tuesday, Apr. 26 at L.A. Pierce.
