SOFTBALL UNABLE TO CONTAIN SANTA BARBARA
SANTA MARIA-- The Allan Hancock College softball team had a 2-1 first inning lead disappear as Santa Barbara put together two big innings to win, 11-3, in a Western State Conference game.
Hancock (7-29, 1-10 WSC North) scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first after Santa Barbara scored a lone run in the top of the inning. Janelle Nunez and Regina Goold both hit singles with two outs. They scored on an error by the first baseman, which allowed Veronica Gonzalez to reach second.
Santa Barbara roared right back to score five runs in the second, four which were unearned. The Vaqueros put up another five runs in the fourth.
Hancock will pick up two victories on Thursday because Moorpark was forced to end their season early. Their last home game will be Sunday, Apr. 17 when they host Riverside. The game will begin at 12:00 p.m.
