SOFTBALL DROPS TWINBILL TO PIERCE
SANTA MARIA-- The Allan Hancock College softball team dropped a doubleheader to L.A. Pierce, 8-2 and 11-2.
Hancock (6-22, 1-6 WSC North) fell behind in the first inning of game one, but stayed close until Pierce put it away with three runs in the seventh. After Pierce scored twice in the first, AHC answered back with a run of their own. With one out, Janelle Nunez singled. After she stole second base, Catcher Vanessa Acevedo single Nunez in.
The Bulldogs would suffer a major blow in the fifth when Acevedo injured her leg on a play at the plate, which resulted in the third out.
Starting pitcher, Angela Martinez led off the the fourth with a single. Martinez would score on an RBI double by Stacey Davis.
In game two, Pierce built up an 11-0 lead before Hancock scored two in the bottom of the seventh. Gina Goold led off the inning reaching first on an error by the Brahma third baseman. Brenna Mackeprang followed with a single. Both runners advanced on a passed ball. Goold scored on a ground out to the pitcher, and Mackeprang scored on a double by Stacey Davis.
The Bulldogs will be at home for a single game against Cuesta on Tuesday, Apr. 5 at 2:00 p.m.
