BULLDOG SOFTBALL CRUISES TO 11-0 WIN OVER SANTA MONICA
SANTA MARIA-- The Allan Hancock College softball team scored 11 runs in a rout of the visiting Santa Monica Corsairs.
The Bulldogs (3-7, 2-1 WSC) scored early and often, leading by a score of 11-0 going into the home half of the 5th inning, at which point the game was called by rule of a team leading by 10 runs after 5 innings. The Bulldogs capitaliized on 9 free passes given up by Corsair pitchers via walks and hit by pitches.
Leading the offensive attack was So. shortstop Stephanie Silva who went 2 for 2, scored 3 runs, and hit a 2 run triple. Sophmore Nika Miller also knocked in a pair of runs and had a triple of her own to continue to offensive onslaught. Adding an RBI double of her own was Fr. Brenna Mackeprang playing third base.
Pitcher Crystal Garcia (3-1) went the distance in the shutout victory, striking out 8 hitters in the process.
The Bulldogs will attempt to continue their winning ways on Wed. playing at L.A. Valley at 2:30 p.m. and again on Thu. at Bakersfield at 5 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs then return home to play L.A. Valley on Tuesday (Mar. 9) at 2:30 p.m.
