Cross Country Qualifies Both Teams for Regional Championship
MOORPARK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's and women's cross country programs saw both team advance to the Southern California Regional Championship after solid performances at the Western State Conference Championship, hosted at Arroyo Vista Park, on Friday. | FULL RESULTS
The first 14 individual finishers at the event received First Team All-Conference honors, while those finishing 15-28 were Second Team All-Conference designees. Athletes finishing 29-42 picked up All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition.
The women's team finished in fifth place out of nine scoring programs after seeing three individuals land top-30 placements in the 5,000-meter event. Rylie Allen led the way with a fifth place slot after turning in a final time of 19:51.7, followed by fellow Bulldog Peyton Miya who took sixth (19:53.5). Brianna Tello rounded out the top performers for AHC with a time of 22:07.2, placing her in 30th through the field of 68, while Meagan Westfall (23:44.9) rounded out the women's All-Conference honorees by snagging 42nd place.
The men's program also snagged a fifth place spot out of 12 scoring teams, also seeing a trio of Bulldogs take top-30 slots. John Gutierrez crossed the line first for AHC with a third place finish to go along with a 20:49.9 time in the four mile race. Erick Marceleno was next, taking 14th with a final time of 21:22.4, while Victor Rojas (21:45.6) finished in 26th through the field of 105 competitors. Aidan Burke rounded out the All-Conference honorees for Hancock after taking 35th (22:22.6).
Both programs have advanced as teams to the next stage and will competed at the SoCal Championship, hosted by San Diego Mesa and held at NTC Park, on November 7th. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 10 AM with the men's race to follow at approximately 11 AM.
