AHC Swimming & Diving Closes WSC Championships
SANTA MARIA, Calif - The Allan Hancock College men's team finished 4th out of 10 teams at the Western State Conference Championships, while the women's squad placed 8th out of 10. Both programs had individual standouts compete at a high level throughout the multi-event meet.
Men's Highlights | Josiah Smee was the top performer on the men's side, dropping 27.88 seconds in the 1650 Free (17:13.60, 2nd place) and backing it up with a 4:57.78 in the 500 Free and a 4:26.89 in the 400 IM. Smee competed in every distance event on the sheet and accumulated the highest point total on the roster. Brayden Alvarez was the men's most versatile swimmer, going 52.81 in the 100 Fly (5th) and 1:56.70 in the 200 Back (3rd) while logging four individual swims across different stroke disciplines. Edward Wallace rounded out the men's top performers with personal bests in the 200 Free (1:51.26) and 100 Free (50.47), while also competing in the 1650 Free and 400 IM. Sean Crow contributed across the 100 IM, 100 Back, and 50 Back, placing 3rd in the 100 IM (56.54).
Women's Highlights | Ianna Calderon led the women's roster in points and set personal bests in the 50 Free (26.84) and 100 Free (58.64) while competing in six events including the 500 Free, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly. She placed 4th in the 200 Fly twice and 5th in the 100 Fly. Ella Edds was a consistent multi-event contributor, setting a personal best in the 50 Back (34.35) and posting back-to-back sub-2:35 swims in the 200 Back. She also competed in the 500 Free and dropped time across multiple efforts. Sierra LaCasse posted the biggest single-event improvement on the women's side, dropping 29 seconds in the 500 Free (6:12.68) and going sub-1:12 in the 100 Fly twice.
