Bulldogs Fall in 2-1 Decision at Moorpark
MOORPARK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team made a late push but came up just short in a 2-1 Western State Conference (North) loss at Moorpark College on Friday afternoon. | BOX SCORE
The hosting Raiders (6-5-4, 2-2-1) struck early in the fifth minute before netting a second in the 43rd, leading to a 2-0 advantage at the halftime break. Hancock (4-8-5, 0-4-1) tightened up defensively in the second half and generated chances late. With just two minutes left in regulation, the Bulldogs broke through: Ronnie Ayala played provider, and Caleb Toledo buried the finish in the 88th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Bulldogs nearly found the equalizer in the closing moments, forcing another save and pushing a shot high in the final seconds, but Moorpark held on.
Sophomore keeper Max Brewster turned away nine shots, including eight saves in the first half alone, and dealt with 11 shots on frame from Moorpark. He also denied multiple attempts in a frantic sequence just before MC's second goal.
Toledo led the Bulldogs with two shots and the lone goal, marking his third of the season. Ayala recorded two shots and an assist, while Connor Moreno and Adrian Gaona each put attempts on frame. As a group, Hancock outshot Moorpark 3-2 in the second half and held the Raiders scoreless after the intermission.
Next up for the AHC squad is a home showing against Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday, October 28th.
