Santa Maria, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team put up a gritty fight against the visitors from Oxnard College on Friday afternoon in a Western State Conference showdown, but came up just short in the 2–1 loss at home. | BOX SCORE
The Condors (7-2-1, 2-0-0) opened scoring midway through the first half with a shot that found the back of the net in the 18th minute, giving the visitors an early 1-0 lead. Hancock's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Max Brewster (five saves on seven shots on goal), held firm for the remainder of the half while maintaining the one goal deficit at the intermission.
The home squad answered in the 54th minute after Diego Santos buried a finish off a clean setup from Caleb Toledo, leveling the score at 1–1 and sparking momentum for AHC (4-6-5, 0-2-1). The celebration was quickly cut short as the Condors reclaimed the lead just three minutes later on a goal of their own. Hancock continued to push forward, generating several chances late in the second half, including on-target efforts from Santos, Benny Nicolas, and Juan Zarate, but couldn't find the equalizer.
The Bulldogs finished with seven total shots — placing four on goal — while Oxnard recorded 14 shots with seven landing on frame.
Hancock is set to return to action on Tuesday, October 21st, for another conference contest at home against LA Pierce College at 4 PM on the AHC Soccer Field.
