PASADENA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team battled through the heat to a 1–1 tie at Pasadena City on Tuesday afternoon at Robinson Stadium, riding a late-half goal from Edgar Chavez and a standout goalkeeping shift by Max Brewster. | BOX SCORE
Chavez put the Bulldogs (1-1-2) on top just before the halftime intermission, pouncing on a rebound and burying it after Juan Zarate forced a save with a dangerous look from close range. The hosting Lancers (3-0-1) leveled moments later on a 15-yard blast by Sebastian Jimenez, sending the match to halftime even. Both goals came during the added stoppage time of the first period.
Hancock absorbed heavy pressure after intermission, and Brewster stepped up, stopping seven shots that landed on target in the second half and nine overall to preserve the point. The Bulldogs' back line had its moment, too: Benny Nicolas produced a goal-line defensive save at the end during a frantic final sequence of Pasadena corners.
Pasadena outshot AHC 21-6 on the day (11-2 on frame) and held a 7-3 advantage from the edge of the field.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, September 5th, at Monterey Peninsula College for a 6 PM match.
