SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss in a non-conference showing at home against Santa Monica College on Tuesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE
Adrian Gaona put the Bulldogs (1-1) on the board first with a double assist from Jaren Moreno and Juan Bribiesca in the 19th minute, but the visiting Corsairs (2-0) responded with a goal of their own in the 21st to even things out. SMC added another in the 28th and sent Hancock into halftime with a one-goal deficit after a near equalizer by Jared Moreno rattled off the post before time expired.
Momentum briefly swung in favor of the home team in the second half after Max Brewster delivered a highlight save on a Santa Monica penalty kick in the 76th minute to keep AHC within striking distance. Despite the effort, the Corsairs managed to find a third goal in the 81st minute to seal the result.
The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Friday, August 29th, at home against College of the Sequoias at 4 PM.
