MEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT GLENDALE
GLENDALE-- Any hopes the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team had of gaining a invitation to the state playoffs were dashed on Tuesday, as the Bulldogs were defeated at Glendale, 5-1.
Hancock (7-8-3, 5-7-2 WSC), the two-time defending Western State Conference champion, fell behind 3-0 in the first half and could not recover.
"We rallied early in the second half and created several scoring opportunities, but like it has been all season, we just couldn't finish," said Head Coach Al Garcia. "Late in the game we were pushed up trying to score and got beaten back on the counter."
Defenseman Chris Bessmer scored the Bulldogs' lone goal off an assisting pass from Crespin Gurrero in the 75th minute.
The Bulldogs close out the season with a road trip to Citrus College (Azusa) on Friday and a home match with Taft on Monday at 3:00 p.m.
