MEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT L.A. MISSION
VAN NUYS-- Just when it appeared the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team was poised to get back in the Western State Conference race, the Bulldogs were felled for a second time this season by L.A. Mission, 5-2, at Birmingham High School Field.
Hancock (6-6-3, 4-5-2 WSC), went a goal down in just the third minute of play on a penalty kick and things only got worse. By halftime, the Free Spirit held an insurmountable 4-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs finally got on the board with a goal by Chris Bessemer, assisted by Brent Mullinax early in the second period. But Mission answered to put the game out of reach at 5-1, midway through the half. John Boswell closed out the scoring with a meaningless goal late in the contest.
AHC will continue its WSC campaign in a 4:00 p.m. match at Moorpark on Friday.
