Torres’ late goal is the winner
Isaac Torres provided all the offense that the Hancock College men's soccer team would need Friday, as his goal in the 87th minute propelled the Bulldogs to a 1-0 Western State Conference victory over Moorpark.
Torres scored the game-winner late in the match when he sent a shot in from the edge of the penalty area. The Raider goalkeeper misplayed the roller, allowing it into the net for Torres' 20th goal of the year. Homero Vasquez got the assist for the goal.
"This was a great defensive match for both teams," said Bulldog assistant coach Carlos Soto, who took over for coach Al Garcia for Friday's game. "We did a good job of keeping them out of our end."
The Bulldogs spent most of the day down a man after Juan Ayala received a red card in the 38th minute.
Hancock improved to 3-2 in WSC play, 9-6-3 overall, and hosts Oxnard in WSC action Tuesday.
