Three goals old hat for AHC’s Torres
Hancock College's men's soccer team improved to 5-0 on the young season, and Isaac Torres recorded his second hat trick of the year in a 5-2 non-conference victory over Taft on Thursday.
Hancock, which drove over halfway to Taft in a scheduling mistake before the game, looked sluggish until John Roth took a pass from Torres and beat the Cougars' goalie for his first collegiate goal in the 30th minute.
Torres scored his first goal 13 minutes later on a cross from Nathan Nunez for a 2-0 lead, which the Bulldogs took into halftime.
Taft cut that lead in half with a goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but a goal by Nunez soon after effectively put the match out of reach.
Torres scored his second of the game in the 75th minute.
On an assist from Martin Burgos and netted his third three minutes later assisted by Kyle Beattie. Torres has nine goals so far this season.
The Bulldogs, who have outscored their opponents 22-9 so far, play Compton at 9 a.m. Saturday in the first day of the Hancock Summer Classic.
