Bulldogs roll again in victory
APTOS — The Hancock College men's soccer team continued its impressive season-opening run Sunday, defeating Cabrillo College 2-0 on the road.
Isaac Torres scored his fifth goal in three matches for the Bulldogs (3-0) this season by converting on a penalty kick in the 20th minute. The foul came when John Roth's rush into the box was met with a Seahawk foul, setting up Torres' goal.
He added an assist five minutes later when one of his shots rebounded to Nathan Nunez, who scored to extend Hancock's lead to 2-0.
After that, it was all on Hancock's defense, as keeper Jason Hancock made eight saves to record his first collegiate shutout.
"The defense has played great the last week, and they keep getting better and better," said coach Al Garica, who singled out defenders Andrew Peliccioti, Billy Barbaree, Homero Vasquez, and Kyle Beattie in the win. "I hope we keep this going."
The Bulldogs begin their home schedule Wednesday by hosting Hartnell at 4 p.m.
