Bulldogs Grind Out 72–65 Playoff Win Over Cypress
SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Allan Hancock College earned a 72–65 win over Cypress College on Wednesday night at Joe White Gymnasium to advance to the next round of the playoffs. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs jumped out early and carried a 38–27 lead into halftime, then withstood a second-half push to close out the postseason victory.
Trenten Lavender led Hancock with 20 points, converting all 10 of his free throw attempts, while Noah Morris, the Western State Conference Defensive Player of the Year, delivered a dominant performance on the glass with 11 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Morris controlled the paint on both ends and was a key factor in limiting second-chance opportunities.
Arlind Konjuhi added 12 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, and Mehki Grant provided a spark off the bench with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Hancock imposed its physicality throughout the night, outrebounding Cypress 49–28, including 20 offensive rebounds, which led to a 15–7 advantage in second-chance points. The Bulldogs also won the bench battle, outscoring Cypress 23–16.
With the win, Allan Hancock advances to face Citrus College on Saturday, with game time to be announced.
