NEXT LEVEL: Richardson Inks with Biola
LA MIRADA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's basketball standout, Ay-Keen Richardson, will continue his academic and athletic career at Biola University next season.
"I chose Biola because Coach Okada had been recruiting me for a good while. After living in California for the past few years, I was excited to get a chance that allowed me to stay in Cali and further both my academic and my athletic opportunities. Biola is a school that I believe will push me further on and off the court," Richardson shared.
Richardson wrapped up his second season competing on the court for the Bulldogs in March. The sophomore from Germany was chosen as the WSC Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first to receive the defensive superlative since JT Riddick in 2019, and received First Team All-Conference accolades after the conference slate wrapped up. He led the Bulldogs with 358 points throughout the regular season with a team-best of 47 made shots from distance. Richardson has totaled 16 steals, 12 blocks, and 72 defensive rebounds on the season while locking down some of the league's top offensive scorers.
"My time at AHC showed me that everything comes to an end and that there are truly only two things in life that are controllable - my attitude and my effort. I learned that life isn't fair, but also that I can't worry too much about the outcome of things that are out of my control. My biggest takeaway is to just give my best in the areas that I can control and let God handle the rest," Richardson added. "I want to thank my coaches, teammates, professors, and friends at Hancock. They always had my best interest at heart and I wish nothing but the best for them moving forward."
The Eagles are a Division II member of the NCAA and compete in the PacWest Conference.
