Football Dominates Santa Barbara in National Northern League Showdown, 47-6
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Despite a campus-wide power outage that impacted the field throughout the entire first half, the Allan Hancock College football team put on a dominant performance on both sides of the ball Saturday afternoon while rolling past rival Santa Barbara in a 47-6 National Northern League victory. The outcome gives AHC an eighth consecutive victory over the Vaqueros and moves the all-time series record to 40-24-1 for the Bulldogs. | BOX SCORE
Hancock's (4-4, 3-2 NNL) ground attack was unstoppable, piling up 476 rushing yards and four touchdowns as part of a 552-yard offensive outing. Torrell Harley led the charge with two touchdowns on 16 carries, including a 56-yard burst en route to 128 yards. Semaj Carmichael added 148 yards and a touchdown, while Isaiah Hernandez ran for 81 yards and a second quarter score. Elijah Little contributed 89 yards on 12 carries, and Kyle Williams chipped in 31 on six attempts as Hancock averaged an impressive 8.1 yards per play.
Quarterback Tyson Scott connected with Mychael Walker for a 51-yard touchdown pass in the closing minutes to cap the Bulldogs' scoring barrage. Scott and Tony Arango split time in the pocket, combining for 76 net passing yards on the day.
The lone touchdown for the Vaqueros came with just over three minutes remaining in the final quarter after a four-yard rush to the endzone capped off a 10-play drive, but the visitors failed the point-after attempt.
AHC Scoring Summary
- 1st Quarter: Carmichael opened the scoring with a 25-yard touchdown run, and Harley added a 6-yard score to make it 14-0.
- 2nd Quarter: Kicker Raymond Escobedo drilled a 31-yard field goal ahead of a 41-yard rushing touchdown from Hernandez just before halftime for a 24-0 lead.
- 3rd Quarter: Harley broke loose for another touchdown, and Takai Azziz snagged a 42-yard pick-six, stretching the margin to 38-0.
- 4th Quarter: Escobedo added a 27-yard field goal, and Scott's 51-yard strike to Walker sealed the 47-6 victory
The Bulldog defense was equally sharp, limiting Santa Barbara (0-8, 0-5 NLL) to just 176 total yards while forcing four turnovers (three interceptions and a fumble recovery). Mikey Gills, Nayshawn Corley, and Azziz each recorded interceptions, while Kaden Tynes secured the fumble. Jacob Nelson and Gills added to the defensive outing by notching one sack apiece.
Escobedo was perfect on both field goals and went 5-for-6 on PATs, finishing with 11 total points. Armand Mastagni handled kickoffs efficiently, totaling 486 yards across nine boots.
Hancock is set to resume league play on Saturday, November 1st, with a road trip to Mt. San Antonio College.
