FOOTBALL STUNNED BY COMPTON
LONG BEACH-- The Allan Hancock College football team suffered a huge upset, falling to previously winless Compton 40-34, in a Western State Conference cross-over game.
Hancock (4-2, 3-0 WSC Mtn.) struggled to stop a wide open style Compton passing game. The Tartars threw for over 400 yards in the game.
Bulldog quarterback Casey Cathcart was able to answer back with his best game of the season. Cathcart was 22-of-34 for 330 yards and tossed three touchdowns. Tyrell Munnerlyn was his number one receiver with 190 yards on nine catches. Munnerlyn caught two TD passes (36, 42). George Henry III caught an 18-yard touchdown pass and ended the game with three receptions and 43 yards.
Andre Cirino ran the ball 15 times for 100 yards, with Terrell Denson adding 54 on 12 carries.
Sam Guilliume led all Hancock defenders with nine tackles, three for losses.
AHC will resume WSC Mountain Division play on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. They will host L.A. Harbor (4-2, 2-1 WSC Mtn.).
