SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Allan Hancock hosted Ventura for Games 1 and 3 at John Osborne Field while making the trip to Pirate Park for Game 2, winning all three to complete the series sweep. The Bulldogs improve to 25-9 overall and 14-4 in conference play, reclaiming first place in a tight Western State Conference race with 6 games remaining.
Game 1 — Allan Hancock 10, Ventura 5 | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs set the tone early, scoring three times in the second inning and adding two more in the fourth and two in the sixth to pull away for a 10-5 victory. Gustavo Crawford started and worked four innings before Brycen Hurtado took over and earned the win with four strong innings in relief, and Gage Mattis finished things off with a clean ninth.
La'akea Ko provided the big blow with a home run and three RBI, and Granite Seibt drove in two on a sacrifice. Parker Schwake went 2-for-5 with a double, triple, and an RBI, while Josue Garcia added two hits and an RBI. Jacob McMillan stole a base and drove in one to round out a balanced Bulldog attack.
Game 2 — Allan Hancock 9, Ventura 6 | BOX SCORE
Down 4-0 through three innings at Pirate Park, the Bulldogs rallied to take the series with a 9-6 win. Ryan Cronk started and departed after three before Gabriel Moralez took over and was dominant — working four scoreless innings to earn the win. Hunter Beck closed it out for his fourth save of the season.
Trent Martin went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the offense, and Matt Kovach had a big day with a double, a triple, and two RBI. Josue Garcia drove in one and La'akea Ko went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Jacob McMillan swiped a bag and Colin Johnston added a stolen base as the Bulldogs applied pressure on the bases all afternoon.
Game 3 — Allan Hancock 17, Ventura 4 | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs saved their best for last, erupting for 17 runs on 18 hits to close out the sweep in commanding fashion. Hancock scored six in the first inning and never looked back, adding four more in the sixth and four in the seventh to put it out of reach. Seth Tedeschi picked up the win, dealing five innings and striking out five.
Braden Oliver was the offensive star, going 4-for-5 with five RBI. Jacob McMillan drove in four and Josue Garcia hit a home run and drove in three. Matt Kovach went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Trent Martin reached base multiple times out of the DH spot. The Bulldogs drew eight walks as a team and took advantage of a Ventura pitching staff that issued six wild pitches on the afternoon.
The Bulldogs return to action with three straight conference matchups this week— hosting Pierce Thursday, Moorpark Friday, before heading to Cuesta on Saturday.
