Football Hangs in for 49-40 Win Over Moorpark
The Bulldog football team ran up 577 rushing yards during a 49-40 victory over Moorpark College. Sophomore Cameron Artis-Payne ran for 239 of those yards and scored four touchdowns. He is currently tied for top in the state in touchdowns with 11 so far this season.
Running backs Chris Barnwell and Peter Berry also scored one touchdown each and Bobby Collins caught a 21-yard pass for a touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback Brandon Jeffries was 13-19 in completions and threw for 217 yards.
Sophomore Colin hodges led the team on defense wirth nine total sacks, followed by Ehi Okoh with eight and Bryan Aiwohi with 7.
The team struggled with penalties, racking up 14 total for a loss of 105 yards.
Hancock is currently ranked third in the state in total offense and second in rushing. The Bulldogs are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference, trailing in the SCFA National Division Northern Conference to Ventura, currently 4-0 overall.
The Bulldogs have a bye this Saturday and then host Los Angeles Harbor at home on Saturday, Oct. 6.
