HANCOCK BASKETBALL: BOTH WOMEN'S AND MEN'S PROGRAMS SCORE POST-SEASON AWARDS

Three members of the Hancock women's basketball team and four members of the men's team received All-Conference Honors this week.  

Freshman guard Danielle Morgan was voted 1st Team All-Conference Western State North Division. The Lompoc high school product lead the Bulldogs in points and rebounds, averaging 15.8 ppg and 7.7 rpg per contest. Teammates Tawny Lino and Tashara Pruett earned Honorable Mention Honors. Lino, a sophomore guard from Pioneer Valley high school, averaged 12.9 ppg and shot 70% from the free-throw line on the season. Sophomore forward Pruett, also from Lompoc high school, averaged 7.3 ppg and 7.4 rebounds per contest.

 

On the men's side, sophomores Spirit Ricks, Glenn Jordan, and JT Riddick were voted 1st Team All-Conference Western State North Division. This is the second year in a row that Ricks received 1st team honors. The 6'7 forward averaged 11.5 ppg and 6.2 rpg this season for the Bulldogs. Jordan, who was voted honorable mention last season, scored 11.7 ppg and shot 37% from the three-point line. 6'9 high-flyer Riddick, averaged 9.1 points per game, but more impressively, 3.2 blocks. He not only led the state in blocks but earned him the Conference Most Valuable Defensive Player Award as well. Freshman guard Mike Mensah had an impressive year, averaging 9.6 ppg and led the state in the three-point percentage with 55%, earning him honorable mention.

 

The Men's Bulldogs are not done playing. With a record of 22-6 (7-3 in conference) they earned a first-round playoff match-up against San Diego Miramar College Wednesday Feb. 27th at Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Tip-off is at 7pm.
