Damron enters his second season as Hancock football’s offensive coordinator. Last year, Hancock ranked ninth in the state by averaging 229.1 rushing yards per game. Prior to Hancock, Damron served as the linebackers and special teams coach at Humboldt State, a Division II-program. He also spent three seasons on the Colorado Mesa coaching staff. With the Mavericks, he was responsible for the defensive line and coordinating the special teams.
Damron played two years at Colorado Mesa, known then as Mesa State, where he averaged 11.7 yards-per-catch over 21 games at tight end. In 2009, his senior season, he earned All-Conference Second Team honors, and was an All-Conference Academic First Team pick. He transferred to Mesa State after two years as an all-conference player for Bakersfield College.
He graduated from Mesa State with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.
